Elvira Popescu
is Assistant Professor at the Computers and Information Technology Department, University of Craiova, Romania and a member of the Multimedia Applications Development Research Center at the same university. She obtained her Ph.D. degree from the University of Craiova, Romania and the University of Technology of CompieÌgne, France (double degree) in 2008. Her research interests include technology enhanced learning, adaptation and personalization in Web-based systems, learner modeling, social learning environments, intelligent and distributed computing. She authored and co- authored more than 50 publications, including journal articles, book chapters and conference papers. She received several scholarships and participated in 11 national and international research projects. Dr. Popescu is actively involved in the research community by co-organizing an international workshop in the area of social and personal computing for e-learning (SPeL 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011), guest editing a journal special issue in the same area, co-editing a Springer LNCS proceedings volume, serving as program committee member and reviewer for more than 30 conferences and workshops, organizing committee member for 8 conferences and member of two journal editorial boards.
