is an Associate Professor in the English Department at Iowa State University where she teaches Shakespeare and early modern literature. She also leads the community engagement for a Big Data and Sustainable Cities Decision-making research team, which is funded by Iowa State University's Presidential Interdisciplinary Research Initiative. In her research, she applies her background in storytelling and narrative gaps to how we incorporate certain types of technologies such as GIS and agent-based models into community engagement. Working with stakeholders, particularly with underrepresented populations, she approaches these technologies as fellow storytellers, using an interplay among the spatial components of GIS, ABM’s “what if” scenarios, and the space these technologies leave for stakeholders’ stories that can to spark agency and locally relevant action projects.
